S.Q-Foscin(Fosfomycin Sodium) Uses:

Fosfomycin sodium for injection is the generic form of the brand-name drug S.Q-Tiroan, a drug indications are based on the respiratory tract infection caused by susceptible bacteria, skin and soft tissue infections, intestinal infections, urinary tract infections, sepsis, peritonitis, meningitis, osteomyelitis, uterine attachment inflammation, intrauterine infection, pelvic inflammatory disease. Can be combined with other antibiotics to treat severe infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It can also be combined with vancomycin to treat methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection.

Side effect:

  • Mainly for mild gastrointestinal reactions, such as nausea, anorexia, mid-abdominal discomfort, loose stools or mild diarrhea, generally does not affect the continued medication.
  • Occasionally, skin rashes, eosinophilia, peripheral blood red blood cells, transient platelet reduction, leukopenia, transient elevation of serum aminotransferase, dizziness, and headache may occur.
  • Injection site phlebitis.
  • Very few patients may experience shock.

Warning:

  • Patients who have a history of allergies to this product are disable.
  • This product should be slow intravenous infusion rate, each intravenous infusion time should be 1 to 2 hours or more.
  • Liver and kidney dysfunction were used with caution.
  • In addition to the use of larger doses for serious infections, it is necessary to combine with other antibiotics such as beta lactams or aminoglycosides. When used for the infection of Staphylococcus aureus, it should also be combined with other antibiotics.
  • Liver function should be monitored at higher doses.
  • This product has an inhibitory effect on adenosine diphosphate-mediated platelet aggregation in vitro and is more pronounced when the dose is increased. However, no report of bleeding has been reported in clinical applications.

Interactions:

  • In combination with β-lactam antibiotics, S. aureus (including methicillin-resistant S. aureus) and P. aeruginosa have a synergistic effect.
  • Synergistic with aminoglycoside antibiotics.
  • The in vitro antibacterial activity of this product is apt to be weakened by the interference of glucose or (and) phosphate in the medium. Adding a small amount of glucose-6-phosphate can enhance the effect of this product.
