SQ-Gaticin(Gatifloxacin) Uses:

Gatifloxacin capsules is the generic form of the brand-name drug SQ-Gaticin, a drug indications are mainly used for various infectious diseases caused by sensitive pathogens, including acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, acute sinusitis, community-acquired pneumonia, simple urinary tract infection (cystitis) and complicated urinary tract Infection, acute pyelonephritis, male gonococcal urinary tract inflammation or rectal infection and female gonococcal cervical infection.

Side effect: Common adverse reactions are nausea, vaginitis, diarrhea, headache, and dizziness.

Warning:

  • This product is banned for allergic to gatifloxacin or quinolones.
  • Diabetes patients are disabled.
  • Gatifloxacin, similar to other quinolones, can prolong the Q-T interval of the electrocardiogram. Patients with prolonged Q-T interval, hypokalemia, or acute myocardial ischemia should avoid using this product.
  • Quinolones can cause central nervous system disorders such as tension, excitement, insomnia, anxiety, nightmares, and increased intracranial pressure. This product should be used with caution in patients with or suspected of central nervous system disorders, such as severe cerebral atherosclerosis, epilepsy or the presence of seizures.
  • Quinolones can sometimes cause serious or even fatal allergic reactions. For the first time a rash or other allergic reaction is found, this product should be immediately discontinued.

Interactions:

  • This product is combined with probenecid to slow the removal of gatifloxacin via the kidney.
  • This product was used at the same time as digoxin. No significant changes in the pharmacokinetics of gatifloxacin were observed, but in some subjects, digoxin plasma concentrations increased. Therefore, the signs and symptoms of digoxin toxicity in patients taking digoxin should be monitored. For patients who exhibit symptoms and signs of toxicity, the plasma concentration of digoxin should be measured and the dose of digoxin should be appropriately adjusted. However, it is not recommended to adjust the two doses in advance.
  • Simultaneous use of gatifloxacin and drugs that affect glucose metabolism can increase the risk of abnormal glucose metabolism in patients
  • Anti-diabetic drugs: After the combined use of glibenclamide and other hypoglycemic agents, pharmacodynamic changes affecting glucose metabolism were observed.
  • When Glibenclamide was combined with gatifloxacin, no significant pharmacokinetic interactions were observed.
