S.Q-Oflocin(Ofloxacin) Uses:

Ofloxacin tablet is the generic form of the brand-name drug S.Q-Oflocin, a drug indications for the sensitive bacteria caused by

  • Urogenital infections, including simple, complicated urinary tract infections, bacterial prostatitis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae urethritis, or cervicitis (including those produced by enzyme-producing strains).
  • Respiratory tract infections, including acute bronchial infections and lung infections caused by sensitive gram-negative bacilli.
  • Gastrointestinal tract infections are caused by Shigella spp., Salmonella spp., Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli, Aeromonas hydrophila, and Vibrio parahaemolyticus.
  • Typhoid fever.
  • Bone and joint infections.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections.
  • Systemic infections such as sepsis.

Side effect:

  • Gastrointestinal reactions: abdominal discomfort or pain, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting.
  • The central nervous system reaction may be dizziness, headache, lethargy or insomnia.
  • Allergic reactions: rashes, pruritus, occasionally exudative erythema multiforme and angioneurotic edema. Photosensitive reactions are rare.
  • Occasionally: seizures, mental disorders, irritability, confusion, hallucinations, tremor, hematuria, fever, rashes and other interstitial nephritis manifestations, phlebitis, crystalline urine, joint pain.
  • A small number of patients may have elevated serum aminotransferase, increased blood urea nitrogen, and decreased peripheral blood leukocytes, which are mostly mild and transient.

Warning:

  • Patients who are allergic to this product and fluoroquinolones are disabled
  • Due to the current prevalence of E. coli resistance to fluoroquinolones, urine culture specimens should be taken prior to administration and adjusted for bacterial susceptibility results.
  • In patients with impaired renal function, the dosage should be adjusted according to renal function.
  • When using this product, excessive exposure to sunlight should be avoided. If photosensitivity reactions or other allergic symptoms occur, the drug should be discontinued.
  • When liver function declines, if it is severe (cirrhosis of ascites) can reduce drug clearance, blood concentration increases, liver and kidney function decline are particularly obvious, both need to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of the application, and adjust the dose.
  • Patients with existing central nervous system disorders, such as epilepsy and epilepsy, should all avoid take medicine. The indications should be carefully weighed against the pros and cons.

Interactions:

  • This product is combined with cyclosporine, can increase the blood concentration of cyclosporine, cyclosporine blood concentration must be monitored, and adjust the dose.
  • Although the anticoagulant effect of this product and the anticoagulant warfarin are less enhanced, the prothrombin time of the patient should also be closely monitored.
  • Probenecid can reduce the secretion of this product from the renal tubules by about 50%, and when combined, it can cause toxicity due to the increased plasma concentration of this product.
  • This product can interfere with the metabolism of caffeine, resulting in reduced caffeine elimination, prolonged blood elimination half-life (t1/2β), and may produce central nervous system toxicity.
  • Acidic drugs containing aluminum and magnesium can reduce the oral absorption of this product and should not be used together.
