S.Q-Antiria(Quinine Sulfate) Uses:

Quinine sulfate drop is the generic form of the brand-name drug S.Q-Antiria, a drug indications are for treating falciparum malaria caused by chloroquine-resistant and multi-drug resistant strains. It can also be used to treat vivax malaria.

The daily dosage of quinine is more than 1g or it is used for a long time, which often leads to the reaction of the cinchona. This reaction is similar to that of salicylic acid, with symptoms such as tinnitus, headache, nausea, vomiting, and visual hearing loss. Severe persons have temporary deafness and can often recover after drug withdrawal.
When the dose is more than 4g within 24 hours, it can directly damage the nerve tissue and contract the retinal blood vessels. There are shrinking vision, diplopia, amblyopia and so on.
When a large dose of poisoning occurs, in addition to the above-mentioned reactions, it can also inhibit the myocardium, prolong the refractory period, slow down the conduction, weaken the contractility of the heart muscle, and expand the peripheral blood vessels. Sometimes it can cause sudden drop in blood pressure, slower breathing, fever, irritability, cramps, etc., and more death from respiratory palsy.
The lethal dose of quinine is about 8g.
A small number of patients are highly sensitive to quinine, and small amounts can cause severe cinchona reactions.
A small number of patients with falciparum malaria can use a small amount of quinine to cause acute hemolysis (black urine fever) to death.
Quinine can also cause rashes, itching, and asthma.

Antacids and aluminum-containing preparations can delay or reduce the absorption of quinine.
The combination of anticoagulants and quinine enhances anticoagulation.
Muscular relaxants such as succinylcholine, antagonine, etc., in combination with quinine may cause respiratory depression.
The use of quinidine in combination with quinine increases the response to cinchona.
Urine alkalizing agents such as sodium bicarbonate can increase the reabsorption of quinine in the renal tubules, resulting in increased quinine plasma concentration and toxicity.
Combined with vitamin K can increase the absorption of quinine.
Combinations with buclikine, seclizine, meclizine, phenothiazines, thioxanthenes, trimetilin, and aminoglycoside antibiotics can cause tinnitus and dizziness.
In combination with nifedipine (nifedipine), the free quinine concentration increases.
